Here are some of our favorite places in the County
-
The Mill Pond Inn & Tavern, Jefferson (10 mins)
Truly our number one happy place, we have lost count of the times we have stayed and dined (omg yum!) at the Mill Pond. The place is nothing short of a rare gem in an unexpected, lovely town. Impeccably restored, owners David and Joan have created a special place down to every last detail, and it all comes together in perfect harmony evoking a sense of much needed comfort, warmth and connection, which stems from them both. The Inn has become a beloved fixture in the community for peaceful getaways, unforgettable weddings, and the perfect refuge from the noise of the world.
-
Charlotteville General Store, Charlotteville (10 mins)
This building, a General Store since 1872 and serving the community throughout its history, is now a little shop and meeting place in the valley of Charlotteville where the not-to-be-missed organic, fair-trade coffee is roasted fresh, hand-crafted sandwiches are prepared featuring Boars Head ingredients, and the market has all the local provisions you need. Be on the lookout for Fern Valley Botanics soaps, made in Summit, look like art, and smell like heaven!
Open Monday - Saturday from 8am-5pm and Sundays from 9am-3pm. -
Buck Hill Farm, Jefferson (10 mins)
The pancakes and maple syrup, oh my! Purchased as a dairy farm in 1979 because of it's large sapbush, Buck Hill Farm has the world's largest inventory of pure maple products, and has evolved into a vacation and weekend destination for many travelers. Farm-to-table breakfast is served every Saturday and Sunday from 8am-1pm. They sell lots of local agricultural products and invite visitors to visit the pigs, cows, and chickens anytime!
Pro tip: wear rubber boots if you want to walk around the farm and meet the animals! -
Bull's Head Inn, Cobleskill (15 mins)
Established in 1802, the Bull's Head Inn is the oldest and one of the most significant landmarks in the Village of Cobleskill, NY. Providing a relaxed, family-friendly and comfortable experience, the Inn is home to a restaurant, rustic tavern, and banquet house, offering traditional American food and drink, with something for everyone. Even gluten free options!
P.S. This place is on NY State’s Haunted History Trail…eek! -
Apple Barrel Store and Café, Schoharie (20 mins)
Originally started as a farm stand after the end of WWII, Apple Barrel has become one of the premier destinations of upstate New York. The Loden's have been the stewards since 1983 and have seen it through numerous expansions and redevelopments. Today, Apple Barrel encapsulates nearly 6,000 sq. ft. and features the best in home decor, gifts, fashion, gourmet food products, and an award winning cafe.

Schoharie Valley Farms/Carrot Barn, Schoharie (20 mins)
Open daily from 9am - 6pm, this is our go-to for groceries when heading up through the I-88. Their sign for Apple Cider Donuts is what got us to pull into their parking lot, and just like that, we discovered another gem in the County. Their donuts are a MUST, but so is everything else. A farm, (to table) bakery/café with home cooked goods, a greenhouse, there is a lot to take in when you stop here.
